All the precautions taken by the traffickers were not sufficient to make up their traffic and to deceive the vigilance of the police. The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) and the Anti Drug & Smuggling Unit (Adsu) seized a carton at the DHL Courier Service at SSR airport on 7 July.
With the help of a dog Zeus, the police discovered 13.20 kilos of compressed dry matter, seeds suspected of being cannabis and 162 grams of methamphetamine. The market value of the drug seized is Rs 10,350,000.
The package was sent from Nigeria by Air Mauritius flight MK 852 on Friday 7 July. It was addressed to an inhabitant of Albion. The drug was handed over to the Adsu for a thorough investigation.
